Reminded of My Purpose

I know I posted earlier today but have to come on here.

I know I've done things I had no business doing today.  I was at the church piano and the children came up and wanted to hear and play certain songs. I had no business playing what I knew was a Roblox song.  I came home with my son and some of the conversation went around to other things instead of God but I tried to stay focused.  I then started getting missed calls from the mechanic where I dropped the suv off at yesterday.  I have not taken regular calls before and I should not have called them back but I did to see what they wanted. The owner of the shop then told me that he was trying to call my dad but had the wrong number and asked me to have my dad call. So I texted my dad and told him the mechanic was trying to get a hold of him.  I went on to go to my son's room and tried to help him complete questions for next week's sabbath school on Kahoot when I heard someone calling to my son and I through the window. My parents came over and they had the suv in my drive way.  I invited them and they showed me what was done, told me they paid everything and I didn't need to worry about anything. Then I asked my son to play something for them on the piano.  He didn't know what to play and started playing a classical song called King Ruppert. I asked him to play Father Abraham but I did go over to the piano to remind him how to play King Ruppert which is not a song that glorifies the Lord.  My parents were asking him to play just about anything and I didn't chime in and stop the direction of it all.

Suddenly, the phone that was next to my son went off with an old familiar ring tone.

What is special about this is it is a phone that I have not used in several years.  It does not have a working SIM card and there is no way to receive any text messages or voicemails or even call out on it.  Actually, an hour before my parents showed up, my son and I were looking for that phone because he misplaced it and it is a phone he uses to connect via wifi for games, coloring and taking photos when we are out in the community.

The phone went off with the song, My Purpose by Spensha Baker.  We were all confused and when I looked at the phone I saw that it had a notification for a voicemail at 6:40pm.  My mother understood somewhat what had happened.  I was reminded then and there my purpose. I should not be doing my own thing. I had just read Isaiah 58 to my son earlier today and here I was playing King Ruppert at a time that was not appropriate.  We were encouraging him to play any old song.  My purpose is to praise the Lord through music, through the work I do at my job, as a parent, in every thing that I am.  My parents left soon after that and my son and I tried to find the song on his phone as I wanted to send it to mine via bluetooth so it could be my new ring tone.  The song could not be found on the phone.  There is no file where it shows up.  He searched and I searched separately and we are both good at these things.

It is the Sabbath. We must honor the Lord and keep the Sabbath holy.  I cannot allow myself to get side tracked, distracted or enticed to get into the things I usually get into during the regular work week.  Our purpose is to the praise the Lord and Here the Lord used a disconnected phone to leave a voicemail, that ring tone.  My son has had that phone for years and never once has there been a call or text alert ever sent to it while it was in his possession.

Our purpose is to praise the Lord.
